When I picked up my car a few weeks ago, I noticed that it came with an iDrive Quick Reference Guide. I thought this would be useful for those curious about the basic operations of the new-for-2009 iDrive, and a quick search suggests that it hasn't already been posted, so I've scanned it and attached the PDF The scan is not the best quality, but it is still readable. Note that this guide does not seem to be specific to the 1 Series, as in the first screenshot on page 14 it shows the 'L7 Surround' option, along with the Logic 7 logo. Neither of these two things are present on my car, which has the premium sound option.
Is there a non quick start version of this somewhere also? The rest of the iDrive instructions are in the main owner's manual for the car - there is an iDrive and a non-iDrive version of the manual. On bmwusa.com you can download the 'with iDrive' version of the manual for the 2009 3 Series, and you'll see all the nitty-gritty details on how to work the iDrive. For some reason, for the 2009 1 Series, they only have the non-iDrive version of the manual, thus the need to grab the 3 Series version - the iDrive is 99% the same for both.

(whew) I was kinda worried that it was gonna be a re-post but I'm glad that it isn't The 3D feature is definitely very cool, I think it'd be very useful when navigating around an unfamiliar area, because you can locate said building for reference. On my daily commute, all I see is.well, just the map and no buildings. The rest of the iDrive instructions are in the main owner's manual for the car - there is an iDrive and a non-iDrive version of the manual.

For some reason, for the 2009 1 Series, they only have the non-iDrive version of the manual, thus the need to grab the 3 Series version - the iDrive is 99% the same for both. Now, the 3D mapping is only in Germany? I tried several setting and made sure I am in the prespective 3D mode, I see NO building in my metro area.
Can anyone confirm that?
